Minnesota government officials took a big leap forward into the future last week by allowing electronic bingo games to be sold throughout the state from 2013.

The move is expected to provide a significant boost to tax revenues as the regulators look to offset debt on a new Minnesota Vikings football stadium.

According to the Duluth News Tribune, Tom Barrett, the gambling board's executive director, said he'd heard from at least a dozen manufacturers that could vie for a share of the Minnesota electronic bingo market. Many, he said, however, wanted to know the standards before pressing ahead.

Here at Bingo News we applaud Minnesota's forward-thinking, which will allow bingo players in the state to have access to technology which is out there and enhances the bingo experience. Let's hope that other states follow their example!
